Greening the Multiple Listing Service (MLS)

The Multiple Listing Service (MLS) is an on-line catalog of all the homes and properties for sale in a given area, and is a tool used in the real estate business.  Each listing contains detailed specifications of a given home describing its various selling points, but until now there has been no way to include information about energy efficiency upgrades.

Realtors- make sure you know how to take advantage of these fields and leverage them in your work.

Buyers- make sure you look at this new resource to help you make an informed decision about your home.

Sellers- make sure you get the information on your green features to your realtor.

IRES was the first MLS in Colorado to provide Energy/Green Fields and a Green Features Addendum for the listing of green property – This was a critical first step toward ensuring that investing in green equates to true financial value. Since then MetroList and others have joined in and Now 90 percent of Colorado Homes are covered.

The Guild hosted several trainings in 2011/2012 to educate realtors about these new features.Watch the video below and learn how to leverage these features in your work.
